Police seized more than 40 vehicles and made 24 arrests in an operation aimed at tackling crime on a Bradford estate.

Officers from the Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team teamed up with colleagues from across West Yorkshire Police for five days of action in the Holme Wood area last week.

The operation also saw a number of warrants executed and Class A and B drugs recovered along with a quantity of cash, imitation firearms and a canister of CS gas.

A number of the vehicles recovered were found to be stolen or believed to have been used in crime. Enquiries are continuing into these matters to identify those involved.

Others were seized because they were uninsured, unlicensed or had been abandoned.

Sergeant Pam Quinn, said: “This was made possible with intelligence from the local community, which we developed into a plan of action with our colleagues from Protective Services (Operations).

“I hope this demonstrates that we will listen to what our communities tell us and will act on this information to tackle those involved in crime.”

Ward councillor Alan Wainwright, said: “I’d like to say well done to the officers for this work.

"To have an effective police force and council members of the public should not have any fears of repercussions if they share information on criminal activity in their area.”
