AN airline is looking to take more than 300 people on board to boost its staff numbers at Leeds Bradford Airport.

Jet2.com has launched a national recruitment drive for 1,700 pilot, cabin crew and ground operations staff at sites across the UK.

The company is hosting a recruitment roadshow for its roles at the Yeadon airport on Friday, September 1, between 10am and 5pm, at Mercure Leeds Parkway, Otley Road, Leeds.

The event will give prospective employees the chance to meet members of the Jet2.com team and receive expert advice and information about the roles on offer.

The firm is looking to recruit experienced pilots with a strong training record, in particular B737 Type Rated First Officers.

The ground operations team will be responsible for making sure Jet2’s flights leave and arrive safely on time. They will also work as part of a team of customer helpers.

Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “It has been an exciting year for us and we are delighted to be creating so many opportunities to join our award-winning team at LBA.

“If you care passionately about looking after customers, we would love to see you at one of our upcoming roadshows and we look forward to welcoming you on board.”

Jet2 continues to expand after running a similar campaign this summer. It has also opened new bases at Birmingham Airport and London Stansted Airport.

The company’s programme for summer 2018 includes more than 1.6million seats to 46 destinations from LBA. This is part of the 9.8m seats available nationally, which is a 13 per cent capacity increase.

Jet2.com opened a £9.5m training facility for pilots and cabin crew on the Euroway Industrial Estate in September 2014.

The site includes fully equipped classrooms and briefing rooms, for use by the firm’s new recruits and existing staff.

Staff previously had to travel to Gatwick and Luton for parts of their training.
