A WOMAN suffered serious injuries when she was hit by a car on Manchester Road.

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.

At 5.15pm on Tuesday a silver Volkswagen Golf travelling towards the city centre hit the woman, who is in her fifties near Manchester Road's junction with Marsh Street.

She was taken to hospital with serious injuries, although police say they are not thought to be life threatening, and she remains there today.

The driver of the Golf, a 27-year-old Bradford man, was spoken to by officers at the scene.

A police spokesman said: "Anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the movements of the vehicle or pedestrian prior to it is asked to contact PC 2560 Shaw at the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team on 101, quoting log 1439 of 22 August."
