In a video released today by West Yorkshire Police, Beyake’s mother Fatou Ann Danso, has spoken about the impact her son’s sudden death has had on the family.

Fatou was joined by her daughter Danlo Keita-Ann in the emotional appeal, which is spoken through an interpreter.

“We are desperate to find out who did it. It has been a difficult year for us and our family has not been the same,” said Danlo.

“We need answers and we need justice. No family should have to suffer the pain and anguish of losing a child like this.”

His mother recalls a conversation with her four-year-old granddaughter, who wanted to know why the doctors had not made Beyake better and why he had not come home.

The video also features an appeal from Detective Chief Inspector Ian Scott, who is leading the murder inquiry for which more than 20 males have been arrested and questioned by officers.

DCI Scott, said: “We are committed to getting justice for Beyake and his family, who are desperately searching for answers as to why he was attacked and who did it.

“We firmly believe the answers they are looking for lie within the local community and we would urge anyone with information to come forward and speak with our officers or anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.

“Beyake suffered horrific injuries and it is vital that we find out who did this, so they can be brought to justice and that his family can have some comfort in knowing those responsible are locked up.
