TWO men were shot in a targeted attack in Bradford late last night.

The men, both in their 20s, were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds following the incident in Heaton Road, Manningham, at 10.34pm.

A short time later police were contacted about a burned out vehicle found a short distance away, which is believed to be linked to the shootings, and has been recovered for forensic tests.

Part of Heaton Road remained cordoned off by police this morning, at the junction with Springcliffe Street.

The grandfather of one of the victims said he feels "sick" at what has happened.

Mohammed Aslam, 64, said his grandson Rohid Ali, 21, has been taken to hospital in Leeds where he is being operated on.

Mr Aslam said: "I'm feeling very sick, and very bad.

"They've taken him for an operation, I don't know how he is doing at the moment.

"Someone rang me at about 10.30pm, when I went down and saw the police, somebody told me 'it's your grandson, they have taken him to hospital'.

"He's a good lad."

Mr Aslam said his grandson's parents were at the hospital with him.

Other residents spoke of their shock at what had happened.

Detective Chief Inspector Jaz Khan, of the Firearms Prevent Team, said:“Enquiries are at an early stage, but we believe this to be a targeted attack and there is not thought to be a wider risk to the public.
