SCHOLES have strengthened their position at the top of All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Championship Division One with a convincing win over fellow promotion chasers Wrenthorpe.

Scholes made 193-6 and followed up by dismissing their rivals for 106.

The result gives them a 11-point lead over Methley, who suffered a dramatic one-wicket defeat against Baildon.

Baildon chased down the Methley score of 175 thanks to Jack Hainsworth (53) and Mounum Ejaz (41).

Spinner Harry Sullivan (4-39) and Marcus Walmsley (3-44) didn't make things easy for Baildon, but the the Jenny Laners kept going and were rewarded with the win.

Marcus Walmsley (52) and Muhammad Akhlaq (38) were the main contributors for Methley as Baildon's veteran spinner Mushtaq Ahmed (4-32) posed problems.

Morley replaced Undercliffe in fourth after beating them by 144 runs to avenge their recent Priestley Cup defeat.

Opening bowlers Matthew Dowse (6-25) and Nathan Bromby (4-25) bowled out Undercliffe for just 51, Gulsheraz Ahmed offering the only resistance with 34.

Morley were indebted to their skipper Oliver Halliday for their total of 195.

He hit six sixes and six fours while making 67 and was well supported by Colin Nuthall (30).

Once again the Undercliffe new-ball bowlers Craig Wiseman (4-42) and Zeeshan Qasim (3-28) were among the wickets.

Bankfoot skipper James Lee produced another match-winning performance as his side sneaked a one-wicket win over Gomersal to climb out of the bottom two.

The former Yorkshire player took 4-59 as Gomersal were dismissed for 152 before making an unbeaten 51 to guide his side home as the pressure mounted.

Jawad Waheed gave him support with the ball as he picked up 3-32, while opener Micky Hutchins (34) was Bankfoot's second top scorer.

Gomersal's innings was dominated by skipper Graham Hilton (71), while spinner Chris Rhodes returned 3-19 in 15 overs and Joe Duffy 3-42 when Bankfoot replied.

Bowling Old Lane dropped into the bottom two for the first time this season after suffering a 106-run defeat against Ossett.

Khalid Usman (91), Paul Malone (79) and Wahab Mirza (39) powered Ossett to 247-7,which was a total that Old Lane never looked like challenging as they were bowled out for 141.

Zeeshan Haider (46) tried to lift his side but to no avail, with Usman (3-23) and Malone (3-30) following up their batting exploits with good bowling performances.

Birstall are 20 points adrift at the bottom after their 79-run defeat by Yeadon.

Ryan Heptinstall (50), Damon Gormley (32), Mohammad Saeed (31) and James Todd (31) helped Yeadon to 235-8, despite the efforts of Charlie Orme (4-54).

Opener Craig Wood made a battling 57 and Orme 31 before Birstall were all out for 156, with Paul Machell (4-39) and James Massheder (3-33) the chief wicket-takers.
