KEEN puzzlers will be heading to Brighouse later this month for the return of the town’s jigsaw festival.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend the sixth annual event which will showcase more than 1,000 different jigsaws over the four days.

First launched in 2012, the festival raises money for local charities, and this year the beneficiaries will be Together for Looked-after Children, Water for Life and St Martin’s Children in the Community Charity.

Funds are raised from the sale of jigsaw puzzles and crafts, a raffle, tombola, competition and refreshments sold at the event’s Missing Piece cafe.

Previous festivals have raised more than £40,000 for good causes.

There will be hundreds of made-up and new boxed jigsaw puzzles on display including children’s puzzles, 3D, double-sided and impossipuzzles.

“The Charity Jigsaw Festival is now an established event in the local calendar with many visitors returning over the four days to view and buy from the constantly changing display,” said Alan Sparks, lead organiser of the event.

For the first time the event, which takes place at St Martin’s Parish Church, in Church Lane, has a sponsor in the shape of jigsaw company Gibsons.

“The Brighouse Charity Jigsaw Festival is a wonderful event and we are very excited to sponsor a festival that not only brings people together but also raises money for such great causes,” said Kate Gibson, managing director of Gibsons.

The charity jigsaw festival runs from Friday, August 25, to Monday, August 28, from 10am to 5pm. It opens from noon on the Sunday. Entry costs £2.
