INCOMMUNITIES has been praised for a flower planting scheme across its estate designed to brighten up neighbourhoods.

Thousands of wildflowers have been planted in Bradford, Shipley, Bingley, Ilkley, Silsden, Addingham, Queensbury and Keighley in bedding areas and on plots of land.

It was the idea of Albert Sally, Incommunities' team supervisor, to make neighbourhoods more colourful and also to attract wildlife.

The flowers have received praise from tenants on social media, with one person saying: "Thank you to whoever planted the wildflowers in Hoyle Court, Baildon. They are beautiful."

Last year, Incommunities staff received a prize from the Ilkley Civic Society for their work in brightening up parts of the town with flowers.

Peter Catterick, Incommunities head of estate services, said: “It’s great that the planting has again made such a big impression.

"Albert and estate staff are proud to bring a splash of colour to local areas.

“As well as brightening up local areas for everyone and lifting people’s spirits the planting is very effective in attracting bees and other pollinators.

"We hope lots of people will enjoy the summer displays.”
