A BOXING superstar is visiting a Keighley school on Tuesday.

Two-times world champion Amir Khan is calling at Eastwood Community Primary School, after it raised funds for his foundation.

Pupils coined-in £2,170 through a #Cakes4Kids Bradford Challenge, which was supported by Bradford Council.

Their fundraising tally was the highest of all six schools that took part.

Together, the schools raised more than £5,500.

The money is going towards the building of an orphanage in Sohawa, Pakistan.

Amir will talk to the pupils about the importance of staying healthy and attributes such as tolerance, respect and discipline which have helped him in the ring.

The school is also staging a series of activities to promote healthy eating.

In a joint statement, headteacher Suzanne Carter and the school's family centre manager Zaibun Khan said: "The school is very appreciative of the fantastic community support for this very worthy cause.

"This special event is something that the children will remember for years to come."

Councillor Imran Khan, the council's executive member for education, employment and skills said: "It is wonderful to see how well our school communities have responded to this worthwhile cause.

"All of the schools involved should be proud of the part they have played and I hope Eastwood pupils enjoy meeting one of the country's leading sporting stars."
