A police car has been damaged in Bradford tonight.
A missile, thought to be a brick, was thrown at the vehicle in the Barkerend area of the city.
The patrol car is now out of action due to the damage, police said.
A picture taken after the incident, which happened in Upper Seymour Street, showed the shattered window on the car.
A spokesman for the police's roads policing unit (RPU) said: "This vehicle cannot be used now to help those who genuinely need our assistance after being 'bricked'."
Later, police suffered a further blow when another of the RPU vehicles was taken off the road due to mechanical problems.
A spokesman for the RPU, issuing a statement to accompany a picture of a police car on the back of a tow truck, said: "We're not having a good day with our fleet. Engine/Starter fault. Keeps our workshop staff busy."
