A CHARITY comedy night raised £2,244.

Proceeds from the event – at the High Adventure outdoor education centre in Cowling – were split between Cancer Research UK, Cycle Sport Pendle and Keighley Rugby Union Football Club.

The packed audience enjoyed turns from Dan Nightingale MC, Brennan Reece, Katie Mulgrew and Rib Rouse.

Tim Ferguson, for High Adventure, said he was delighted with the evening's success.

He added: "It is very much part of our ethos to support local causes – having fun in the process is great!

"We were delighted to be able to share the incredible amount raised between three very worthy recipients."

Olympic gold-medal-winning cyclist Steven Burke accepted the Cycle Sport Pendle cheque on the group's behalf during a visit to the Lancashire track.

And he welcomed the continued development of the club.

"It is great to see it developing young riders," he said.

"Encouraging young children in this ever-growing sport is so important."

High Adventure is hosting another charity comedy evening on October 8.
