PLANS to build a new swimming pool building at Bingley Grammar School have been approved by Bradford Council.
The school applied to demolish the existing “dilapidated” building, retaining the pool and building a replacement build around it.
The uninsulated building was erected in the 70s, and the application said: “The school has decided not to continue down the long established route of ‘make do and mend’ but has grasped the nettle and intends to demolish the existing building and to replace it with a new, slightly larger structure, fully insulated and compliant with all current requirements.”
Planning officers said: “The current building is old and lacks insulation and has now become dilapidated and not fit for purpose. The new building will be in the same use and will allow the school to use the swimming pool to its full potential.”
