FREE parking will be on offer at the Airedale Shopping Centre in Keighley on Saturday (July 29) to celebrate the launch of the town's indoor beach.

A host of entertainment is being staged as part of the celebratory day.

The free activities in the centre will include a beach-themed photo booth, jive dancing demonstrations and workshops, face painting and balloon modelling.

A competition to design a beach towel will be run by the Yorkshire Linen Company.

From the weekend until Sunday, September 3, the beach will be open every day, from 10am to 4pm.

It will feature sand, retro deckchairs, buckets and spades and picnic benches.

Centre manager, Steve Seymour, said: "The beach was a huge hit last year, proving to be a fantastic attraction throughout the summer for the many visitors to the centre and Keighley.

"A lot of our customers don't have easy access to the seaside, so why not bring it to them?

"The best bit about it is that it can be enjoyed come rain or shine – you won't need a towel and it's free!"

Behind the initiative is Keighley Business Improvement District (BID), which until the end of this month is also running a campaign supporting independent businesses.

Shoppers collecting three stamps from participating businesses have the chance of scooping £500 in vouchers, to spend in Keighley.
