A TOTAL of five Bradford Council-run parks have once again been given a Green Flag Award.

Peel Park in Undercliffe, Harold Park in Low Moor, Lister Park in Manningham, Roberts Park in Saltaire, and Central Park in Haworth, have all received the prestigious accolade, run by the charity Keep Britain Tidy on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government.

The scheme is the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in the UK, designed to promote and share good practice within the green space sector and recognise and reward the hard work of managers, staff, and volunteers.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, the Council’s executive member for environment, sport, and culture, said: “We are extremely proud of the wonderful parks we have in our district.

“I would like to offer congratulations to the hard-working staff who look after our parks throughout the year, creating a clean, safe and beautiful environment for families and friends to enjoy.

“We are also lucky to have help from the countless volunteer groups of ‘friends’ who help maintain the parks. There are some fantastic events planned in our parks for the summer.

“I know a lot of time and effort has been put in by Friends Of groups and Council officers in supporting our parks and projects. Green Flag status recognition is a culmination of all the hard work that goes in. Thank you all.”
