PLANS to close down and demolish a petrol station to create more room for a car showroom have been approved by Bradford Council.
Vertu Motors had submitted the application to replace the Texaco station, and attached shop, on Thornton Road with a vehicle sales display for Bristol Street Motors, based behind the station.
The application said: “The proposals will remove a tired and cluttered petrol station in a prominent position on a key gateway road into the City Centre.”
There were no objections, and planning officers said: “The proposal is likely to result in less noise and general disturbance. There would be a significant reduction in traffic movements to and from this site with the closure of the petrol filling station. The number of access points to the site would also be reduced.”
