A SPEED watch on Baildon Road, Shipley, has caught 28 drivers breaking the limit in less than an hour.

The watch was carried out on Monday by two PCSOs and a member of the public.

One motorist was travelling at nearly twice the 30mph limit.

A police spokesman said: "28 vehicles were observed exceeding the speed limit, 23 are being issued with driver education letters.
"One intelligence report will be submitted and one driver is facing consideration of being issued with a section 59 antisocial behaviour notice for excessive speeding.

"The highest recorded speed was 58mph in the 30mph zone."

Tonight, those reacting to the news on social media called for similar police operations in other parts of the district.

Among the suggested roads put forward for Speed Watch were Huddersfield Road through Low Moor, Bowling Back Lane, Leeds Road and Pasture Lane.
