A CAR involved in a crash which critically injured a pedestrian was later found burnt out, police have revealed.
A 33-year-old man remains in a critical but stable condition in Leeds General Infirmary today after being hit by a silver VW Golf as he crossed Croft Street, which links Wakefield Road and Manchester Road, in Bradford city centre. The vehicle then failed to stop at the scene.
A 34-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the incident but have been released pending further enquiries.
West Yorkshire Police have revealed that the Golf, which had a 56 plate, was abandoned in St George's Place, Little Horton, and later found burnt out in Hawkshead Drive, Broomfields, Bradford.
No pictures of the burnt out vehicle have been made available by the police.
The incident took place at around 12.40am on Sunday, July 9.
PC Andy Barron, of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support team, said: "A man has been seriously injured and it is vital that we find out te circumstances of this collision and what happened to the vehicle afterwards.
"The vehicle would have sustained serious damage to its front as a result of the collision and we believe that someone will have seen it before it was abandoned in the Little Horton area."
Anyone with any further information on the incident, or the vehicle after the crash, is asked to call the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support team on 101, quoting log 98 of July 9.
