SUPERHEROES and fairy tale characters were out in force in City Park this weekend as Bradford Literature Festival got under way.

There is still one week left of literary fun, set to take place in locations across the city which will be hosting more than 300 events featuring more than 400 guests, with a number of different discussions and author talks.

Thor and Superwoman were just some of the familiar superhero faces in City Park on Saturday putting on free shows in the sunshine for the crowds. Among them was three-year-old Rowan McGibbon from Menston who dressed for the occasion as Spiderman. Dad Ross, 53, said: “It’s Rowan who is the real Superhero fan, I’m just here for the day out!”

A huge inflatable structure in Centenary Square has formed the festival’s hub where visitors can browse books, attend talks and buy tickets. Yesterday saw a celebration of fairy tales with more live shows, including The Grimm Mash Up Show (pictured left and right). A historical tour of Bradford crime scenes was also held yesterday (below).
