A MAN has been rescued from a house fire in Cleckheaton.
Firefighters from Cleckheaton and Dewsbury were called to the house in Mortimer Street at about 10.15pm yesterday.
Police were already in attendance and had got the man out to safety, said a spokesman for the fire service.
A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 10.10pm to Mortimer Street in Cleckheaton after receiving a report of a burglary.
"The caller also said he could smell burning and requested fire were contacted.
"Officers attended and found a male in his thirties who was arrested on suspicion of arson.
"He remains in custody at this time and enquiries are continuing."
