A TEACHER at a Bradford school will have her training paid for by a local foundation.

The Yorkshire Young Achievers Foundation is supporting Emma Graham, a Year 10 teacher at Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College.

The training is being provided through Teach First.

The Foundation makes grants to individuals and organisations supporting them across Yorkshire from the funds raised at the Yorkshire Young Achievers Awards, of which McCormicks Solicitors is principal sponsor, and this is the sixth year it has supported a teacher at Buttershaw.

Teach First works to break the link between low family income and poor educational attainment and recruits, training and supporting teachers working in schools in low-income communities to raise the achievement, aspirations and access to opportunity of children.

Foundation Vice-chairman Richard Stroud said: “We have supported Teach First for some years now after seeing how these young teachers can help pupils to achieve their true potential. I was privileged to sit on during a creative and successful maths lesson during my visit, which underlined the value of supporting such initiatives.”
