A MAN had to be freed by fire crews after a car he was travelling in crashed into a lamppost in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters from Fairweather Green and Illingworth were called to the incident in Syke Lane, Causeway Foot, Halifax, just after 5am.
On arrival, they found the car had collided with the lamppost with one man trapped inside.
A spokesman for the Fairweather Green crew said that the man, aged in his early 20s, had been a front-seat passenger in the car.
He said that three other men had managed to escape the vehicle unaided.
Crews had to remove the full side of the car to free the man.
He was taken hospital by ambulance, although his injuries are not thought to be serious.
