LONG tailbacks and delays were caused earlier today after a collision occurred on the M62 motorway between a lights goods vehicle (LGV) and a caravan.

The collision occurred just before 10.36am at Rishworth Moor and was attended by emergency services and West Yorkshire Police’s Road Policing Unit.

The motorway was closed for around three hours.

No injuries were reported but it is understood the LGV driver has been reported for driving without due care and attention.

No details have yet been released of where the occupants of the two vehicles were from.

All lanes of the westbound carriageway near junction 22 were affected and caused tailbacks of more than 15 miles as far as Hartshead Moor services.

At least three motorists were spoken to by officers for reversing down a slip road at junction 24 to avoid joining the queue.

The motorway was reported open again at around 2pm.
