A PLANNED sixth-form college in Bradford city centre has secured government funding.

New College Bradford, which will open a new build school in a yet to be announced location in September 2019, has received word that the Education and Skills Funding Agency has approved the project.

The school will be run by the same group that runs New College Pontefract and New College Doncaster, which opens in September.

New College Bradford will open its doors to around 400 young people at first, and is expected to grow to its full capacity of 1,200 three years later.

The plan is for the college to be the main sixth form college for students at the Bradford Diocesan Academy Trust’s secondary schools.

Pauline Hagen, CEO of New Collaborative Learning Trust (pictured) said: “It is very exciting news. This means that we will now be able to secure a site in a prime central location. It also means we’re on track to open our new sixth form college in September 2019 as planned. In two years we will be able to offer Bradford’s young people a first class sixth form college experience in the heart of their city.”
