A VACANT pub on Leeds Road will be converted to a shop after change of use plans were approved by Bradford Council.
The Waggon and Horses in Laisterdyke was bought by nearby restaurant chain Akbar's several years ago, mainly so its customers could use the pub car park.
Since it shut, the pub has been used for storage, and has been vandalised on several occasions.
Shabir Hussain has now been granted planning permission to convert the building into a shop, although in his application he says the type of shop has not been decided yet. It says there will be minimal change to the outside.
Planners said the shop should have restricted opening hours to prevent overlap of the car park being used by store customers and restaurant customers.
Hours are limited to 9am to 8pm on Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 6pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
