THERE were thrills galore in the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Premier Division yesterday as leaders Hanging Heaton featured in a tie at East Bierley, Farsley suffered their first defeat and bottom team Batley recorded their first win.

With Pudsey St Lawrence defeating Townville, the positions among the pack chasing Hanging Heaton has changed around.

St Lawrence have climbed to second place, 16 points behind Hanging Heaton on 133. Farsley are a further point back, with Townville on 128 and Woodlands 126.

The most dramatic action was at East Bierley, where the home side made 230-8 in their 50 overs, with skipper Adam Patel leading the way with a fine 106.

He hit three sixes and nine fours and put on 185 for the third wicket with Shaaiq Choudhary (89).

Hanging Heaton opener Nick Connolly hit his third half-century of the season as he took his tally of league runs to 546 with his 52.

Skipper Gary Fellows (36) and Richard Foster (36) helped give the innings a solid foundation before Callum Geldart upped the tempo with his 71.

In a nail-biting finish, overseas player Muhammad Rameez was run out while attempting to secure the winning run as Hanging Heaton also finished on 230-8.

Townville were beaten at home for the first time this season when they went down to a 35-run defeat against Pudsey St Lawrence.

A second-wicket stand of 120 between Adam Waite (75) and Charlie Best (59) was boosted by 45 from Barrie Frankland as St Lawrence reached 227-9.

Teenage West Indian fast bowler Shkym Haynes took 5-49 for Townville, who were dismissed for 192 in reply.

Brayden Clark (61) and Conor Harvey (36) were their top scorers as off-spinner Steve Watts took 4-33.

Woodlands looked in deep trouble when they slumped to 20-4 at Farsley, but the home side were unable to press home their advantage.

Wicket-keeper Greg Finn (72) and Liam Collins (52) turned the tide before Scott Richardson's 45 lifted them to 221-9. Yorkshire left-armer James Wainman took 4-43 and Chris Henry 3-47.

Half-centuries from James Logan (63) and Ryan Cooper (56) weren't enough to save Farsley from defeat as they were restricted to 173-6.

Former Farsley player Mark Lawson took the bowling honours for Woodlands with 5-64.

Batley followed up their midweek T20 Cup win over Pudsey St Lawrence by defeating New Farnley by one wicket to register their first win.

Sufyan Patel (48) and Jalil Akbar (39) helped them edge past New Farnley's 196 with two overs to spare, despite the efforts of left-arm spinner Luke Jarvis (5-50).

The New Farnley innings was dominated by a second-wicket partnership of 100 between Lee Goddard (58) and Dave Cummings (63). Muhammad Hafeez was the pick of the Batley bowlers with 4-40.

Second-from-bottom Pudsey Congs also picked up a welcome victory as they defeated Lightcliffe by six wickets.

Yorkshire second teamer Ryan Gibson took 5-62 as Lightcliffe made 206-8, and followed up with 44 in the successful run chase.

Rob Burton (62) - his highest score of the season - and skipper Matt Baxter (35) were the top scorers for Lightcliffe, while Gibson received good support from opener James Ford (39) and Mubtada Akhtar (46no) as Congs took the win.

Bradford & Bingley continued their improvement with an 87-run win over Cleckheaton at Moorend.

Openers Jack Edgar (60) and David Clow (40) got Bingley off to a good start, which helped them post 208.

Spinners Qaisar Ashraf (3-43) and Andrew Deegan (3-50) were the best of the Cleckheaton bowlers.

Cleckheaton then stumbled to 121, with spinners Noman Ali (4-19) and Clow (3-33) the key wicket-takers.
