A SPORTS star has brought a bit of added punch to a primary school’s healthy week of events.

Welterweight boxer Darren Tetley visited Year 4 pupils at Blakehill Primary School yesterday morning to talk about how he got into boxing and give the children some tips on how fighters like him stay in shape.

It was just one of a series of events taking place in the school this week to spread the message of healthy living.

Other events include boot camp sessions for the children, healthy living tips and sports sessions.

Rachel Gould a Year 4 teacher, said: “It has gone really well. Darren gave a really good insight, and explained how he dreamed of being a boxer as well as talking about his diet and what exercise he does.”

He also signed autographs for pupils.

Children have also been experiencing foods from across the world this week, with Year 4 today focusing on Hungary and enjoying goulash in a dining room adorned with Hungarian flags.
