A KEIGHLEY man who gave-up booze for a month to raise money for Manorlands has toasted the result.

David Gallagher coined-in £300 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice by ditching alcohol throughout April.

And he celebrated his achievement with a pint!

"I'm pleased to have raised £300 for this great local cause," he said.

"I'd like to thank all the people at the Grafton Club, Percy Veers and my friends at Bradford City who supported my efforts with sponsorship."

The cheque was collected by Andrew Wood, Sue Ryder community fundraising manager.

He said: "We're very grateful to David for his dedication in raising the funds.

"He's been keen to support the hospice for some time but mobility issues prevented him from taking up a physical challenge.

"Going without a pint throughout April was therefore the perfect challenge for David and shows that there are a wide range of opportunities available for people who want to support us."
