A “BEDTIME stories” event in Bradford city centre attracted hundreds of pupils and their families from the BD5 area.

More than 700 people from nine schools came to the National Science and Media Museum and Bradford City Library on Tuesday afternoon for the event.

The schools came together as part of a drive to promote the importance of reading with activities aimed at primary school children.

Teachers from all nine schools took part in a dress up and read story telling session, a let’s draw together event with illustrator Denise Webber was held at the Pictureville Cinema, and a comedy performance by Simon and Sian, based on Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes, was performed.

There was also a poetry in motion session with poet Andy Tooze at the museum and a word wizards workshop took place at Bradford City Library.

Bowling Park Primary principal Stuart Herrington said: “The event was a fantastic success. We had hundreds of children from across the nine schools attend so it reached all areas of BD5 which is what we wanted to achieve.”
