SCHOOLS from across Keighley put their debating skills to the test.

They took part with other schools from Bradford district in a contest at the city's Cartwright Hall.

Among those at the Woolsack Debating Society competition were pupils from Crossflatts, Parkwood, Eastwood and Holycroft primary schools.

Michael Jameson, Bradford Council's strategic director of children's services, said: "The Woolsack Debating Society is now in its third year and is a great way of engaging children in healthy debate and reasoning.

"This also gives the young people the opportunity to learn how to research a final debate project to give them the information needed to take part.

"The project is part of the Language 4 Learning strand – set up many years ago in Bradford – and also Voice Bradford, a project funded by the council which has created six 'oracy hubs' that co-ordinate the sharing of good practice across our schools."
