The jury in a long-running trial at Bradford Crown Court has returned its first verdicts.

Six men faced a total of 12 charges after a violent altercation in a quiet cul-de-sac.

During the trial, jurors heard evidence of a shotgun being fired at a car and the alleged gunman then being attacked during the incident in Hollybank Gardens, Great Horton, on October 3 last year.

Jurors have now returned their first verdicts after deliberating for a week.

Mohammed Waris, 22, of Northside Terrace, Lidget Green, was found guilty today of the three charges he faced - conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life; conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition without a firearms certificate; and conspiracy to handle stolen goods.

The jury of seven women and five men also found Dhannish Akmal, 19, of Aberdeen Terrace, Lidget Green, guilty of conspiracy to handle stolen goods and conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition without a firearms certificate.

It also brought in guilty verdicts against Ajaz Saddiq, 38, of Hollybank Gardens, Great Horton; his brother Shahid Saddiq, 35, of Waverley Road, Great Horton, and 39-year-old Nazim Hussain, of Fairbank Road, Girlington, who were all charged with wounding Mohammed Waris with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

Tariq Adalat, 35, of Northside Terrace, was found guilty of conspiracy to handle stolen goods.

The jury continues to consider its verdicts in the cases of Akmal and Adalat who both face charges in relation to conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life, and Adalat in relation to a charge of conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition without a firearms certificate.

Judge Jonathan Rose has now given the jury a direction that it can return majority verdicts on the remaining charges.
