ALTHOUGH they didn't win in the end, Keighley did trouble unbeaten leaders Hartshead Moor in Championship Division Two of the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League.

Rain reduced the match to 21 overs per side at Lawkholme Lane, but the hosts were blown away by in-form Scotland pace bowler Iain Wardlaw (4-15) and skipper Danny Squire (4-30).

The only resistance came from overseas player Travis Nightingale (21), Nathan Storton (16) and Louis Horsfield (14) being the only other players to reach double figures in a very disappointing 74 all out.

However, Keighley were soon back in the game, dismissing the first five Moor batsmen for just 27 runs.

Then came a short rain break before the visitors resumed their innings to triumph by five wickets with just ten balls to spare, with Mohammad Khan 36 not out and Matthew Evans 23 not out.

Hartshead Moor, who have now won all five matches, have 93 points, leading the table by a sizeable 28 points from Northowram Fields and Buttershaw St Paul's, while Keighley, on 63 points, are still fourth.

On Sunday, Keighley's first team were in first-round Jack Hampshire Cup action at home to East Leeds.

The visitors batted first and were dismissed for 98, with Daniel Lawrence top-scoring with 22 as Matthew Haines impressed, following up his 3-12 from the day before with 6-23 off 7.2 overs, Storton taking 2-13.

Keighley knocked the runs off in 18.2 overs for the loss of just two wickets, with captain Andy Wear scoring 59 off just 43 balls, including ten fours.

With players being unavailable due to Bradford City's play-off final at Wembley, Keighley's second team could only field nine players at Ossett on Saturday.

Keighley were put in, with skipper Rory Robinson more than doing his bit by carrying his bat for 67 out of 117 (Khurman Akhtar 4-40), only Rohid Ali (16) and wicket-keeper Owen Sargent (10), who was last man, joining him in double figures.

Ossett replied with 118-2, with skipper and opener Richard Fenwick making 40 not out and Gavin Goodlad 51 not out, with Robinson completing a fine match by taking both wickets.
