HARTSHEAD Moor, who have been sweeping all before them in All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Championship Division Two, were involved in a thrilling first-round tie in the Jack Hampshire Trophy yesterday.

Moor's opening bowlers Iain Wardlaw (3-13) and Danny Squire (3-45) helped to restrict hosts East Ardsley to 133, Haseen Bashir making 34 in the middle order.

However, Moor looked doomed at 105-9 until last-wicket pair Rauf Qayyum (37no) and No 11 Reuben Shuttleworth (5no) saw the Highmoor Lane club home.

Idle were also involved in a tense contest at Cavendish Road, making 158 (Abdul Qader 54, Qamar Ibrahim 46) against Carlton, who were 39-3 before winning by three wickets as the home side used eight bowlers.

Matt Haines continued his good work with the ball for Keighley, taking 6-23 as East Leeds were castled for 98 at Lawkholme Lane, home skipper Andy Wear then making 59, including ten fours, to help them to a five-wicket victory.

Altofts opener Dominic Richardson (89) was involved in stands of 94 with Sam Dennison (52) and 52 with Kristian Miller (40) as they racked up 281 against Brighouse, who could only reply with 169 (Khurram Maqsood 37).

If it was runs you were after, however, then look no further than Azaad, whose opener Syed Shah Buhkari was in scintillating form.

He hit 22 fours and seven sixes in scattering the Windhill attack to the four winds in making 182 not out of their 352-2, putting on 225 for the first wicket with Zaeem Zulfqar (84).

Windhill at least had the consolation of batting out their overs at 84-8.

Louis Bentley was a key figure for Crossbank Methodists, who were 36-4 against Sandal before being revived by James Coulborn (61) and Bentley (48).

They reached 188, and Bentley then took 3-15 as Sandal could only make 142 in reply, despite 50 from Kristian Shuttleworth.
