A man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with offences including attempted murder and possessing a firearm.

Jordan Barratt, 22, of Pemberton Drive, off Great Horton Road, was arrested on Sunday by police investigating a shooting that took place on Parkway, West Bowling, early on Saturday morning.

Armed officers were called to the residential street at 1am following a report of a firearms discharge.

They found two men, aged 22 and 41, and a 38-year-old woman with arm and leg injuries.

They were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which were not believed to be serious, and all three have since been discharged.

Barratt appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court today morning, alongside a second man who has been charged with intimidating a witness.

Magistrates heard that Barratt had been charged with a count of attempted murder, relating to May 20, as well as possession of a firearm with intent, two counts of section 18 wounding and witness intimidation.

Appearing in the dock alongside Barratt was David Briggs, 29, of Bonwick Mall, Buttershaw.

He was charged with intimidating a witness on Wednesday, May 17, an incident magistrates were told had links to the alleged shooting.

Both men were led from the custody suite to a secure dock in the court flanked by three security guards.

Barratt, who was wearing a green zip-up hoodie, spoke only to confirm his name, address, and date of birth.

He was told by magistrates that he would be remanded in custody until Monday, June 19, when he will appear at Bradford Crown Court to answer the charges, as they were too serious to be heard at Magistrates’ Court. He was then led back to the cells.

Briggs, who was wearing a black t-shirt with a Nike logo on the front, was also remanded in custody until the same date, when he will answer his intimidation charge at the crown court.

After the alleged shooting on Saturday there was a police cordon in place on Parkway from its junctions with Highbridge Terrace and Sandside Close, including a large grassed area to the side of the road.

A police van, police car, and an unmarked police vehicle were at the scene for several hours, with uniformed officers standing guard at the edges of the cordon.

Parkside residents told the Telegraph & Argus on Saturday they had heard “loud bangs” early in the morning, which were followed by police and emergency services descending on the area shortly after.

Through the day police activity was focused on a house at the centre of the cordon. After it was lifted, damage could be seen on the front door of the house. The incident led to an appeal for information by West Yorkshire Police.
