Silsden Storm u-11s 16 Crigglestone All Blacks u-11s 24

SILSDEN were left baffled by some refereeing decisions as they suffered a narrow defeat to Crigglestone.

Storm scored first with a great passing move finished in the corner by Fergus Ramage but then they let in a soft try in the corner.

Silsden were keen to push on from the restart and forced an error which resulted in Mark Surridge getting over under the posts. They defended like Trojans when Crigglestone responded but couldn't stop the All Blacks from crossing in the corner.

An interception saw Crigglestone add another score to lead 14-10 at the break.

The focus in the second half became switched on the referee. Silsden were left bemused by his decision to give a knock-on against one of their players after a Crigglestone player had appeared to lose the ball.

While Silsden couldn't believe it, the All Blacks scrum half found his way into the corner on the following set. It looked as if the conversion attempt had dropped below the crossbar – and a Crigglestone official seemed to agree after waving a miss – but the referee awarded the conversion as successful.

Silsden's brilliant defensive effort, in which they had defended five sets of six on their own line, may not have resulted in victory but it was a huge improvement on the previous week.
