HUDDERSFIELD have signed Martyn Ridyard on a month's loan from Leigh.

The 30-year-old half-back, who has made more than 200 appearances for his home-town club, will help plug the gap created by the departure of his former Leigh team-mate Ryan Brierley to Toronto.

Huddersfield coach Rick Stone said: "Martyn's an experienced playmaker and he's been around a long while. He's shown that he can run a team and move a team around the park.

"He's got a good kicking game and obviously he was one of the influential parts of getting Leigh into the top grade last year when they went through the Middle 8s, so obviously he's handled pressure pretty well. He's keen for an opportunity and we need a half-back, so it's a good fit for both parties."

Ridyard played a major role in helping the Centurions gain promotion to Super League but has made just four appearances so far this year.

"My number one priority remains Leigh Centurions, and I am determined to fight for my shirt, but I want to look after myself and give myself the best possible opportunity to do that," said Ridyard.

"I've been told I'm not going to get an opportunity for the next three or four games and so this loan move gives me the chance to find match fitness and consistency of performance in a good environment."

Leigh coach Neil Jukes said: "Unfortunately Martyn has not had the game time that both he and myself envisaged at the start of the year, both through other people's performances and Martyn's niggling injuries at the start of the season.

"He is now fit and ready to challenge himself at Super League level. It is important for us and Martyn to get him out there, conditioned and challenging himself at the highest level, which is Super League."
