The T&A has one of the most comprehensive newspaper archives in the country, with more than a century of material for us to draw on.

Many local newspaper archives up and down the country have been lost over the years due to office relocation, but longstanding former T&A editor Perry Austin-Clarke recognised the importance of this resource and fought hard to keep it.

These days the T&A archive also houses back issues, cuttings and photographs from our sister titles across Yorkshire including The Press in York.

It's a vital resource, not just for nostalgia features but also for helping us fact-check our trusted news stories.

On occasion we have helped readers with their own historical research and our archive has even been used by the police when investigating historic offences

In this video our nostalgia writer and researcher Odele Ayres shows you around.
