A FRESH daily exhibition has hit Bradford's big screen showcasing work from local artists in a variety of mediums including metal sculpture, abstract art and vibrant pastel work.

Images of the work are screened daily in City Park as part of the ongoing Not Just Hockney exhibition which focuses on five different artists each month.

The project, which aims to provide outdoor gallery space to artists, is supported by Bradford City of Film.

It is curated by arts enthusiast Colin Neville to promote local artists.

He told the Telegraph & Argus: "The artists all have their own very unique ways of looking at the world, which makes curating my website a pleasure.

"All professional artists approach a task in a different way, and they all bring their own styles and personality into their art work."

This month’s five artists are:

Linda (Clowes) Harrison is a colourist painter, using soft pastel and oil paint, both traditionally and experimentally, on a range of surfaces, including handmade papers, textured card, canvas or fabric.

Linda’s paintings have been exhibited across Britain, including at Dean Clough in Halifax, Oldham Gallery, Dulwich Picture Gallery in London, and at Cliffe Castle in Keighley. Her work has also been displayed at the City Hall Gallery in Bermuda.

Judy Sale is a Haworth-based artist who uses a range of art media to paint predominantly abstract work, often influenced by her past work and global travels.

Judy was a founding director of a Centre for Contemporary Art in Cyprus and her work has been shown in Britain and overseas, including solo exhibitions in Yorkshire, London, Canada, Italy, and Cyprus.

Andy Shaw is a Bradford artist who uses reclaimed metal to make sculptures, often inspired by film characters. He took up industrial art over 16 years ago as a hobby after qualifying as a mechanical engineer.

He has exhibited work at the Millennium Galleries in Sheffield, Rapture Gallery in Harrogate, Beat-Herder Festival, Staithes Arts Festival and at Salts Mill at the ‘1 in 4’ exhibition.

Liz Tolan is a Bradford artist. Her current paintings and creative ideas are often inspired by family photographs and the emotions and memories generated by these.

Her work has been exhibited across Yorkshire, including at the Bradford Playhouse, Cupola Art Gallery in Sheffield, Patrick Studio in Leeds, and the Saltaire Arts Trail. Liz has also had solo shows at Batley Library and the South Square Gallery in Thornton.

Lisa Vallo is a Bingley artist who designs one-off art panels and murals. She uses a range of art materials to suit the assignment and her designs are often influenced by her previous overseas residence and international travel.

Lisa’s work can be found in private collections and displayed in a wide range of commercial premises, including those of Marks & Spencer, GHD, and Actiderm.

David Wilson, director of Bradford UNESCO City of Film, said: “May’s exhibition is truly wonderful with five brilliant artists from across the district displaying their work.

"From Andy Shaw’s metal sculptures to Judy Sale’s abstracts they all demonstrate their ingenuity and creativity through the canvas or in sculpture.”

Images of all five artists’ work are being shown on the big screen every day this month at 12.30pm.
