STUDENTS will still be able to take vital GCSE exams despite Beckfoot Oakbank School being closed due to a gas leak.
The school, off Oakworth Road, said it had made alternative arrangements for students due to take public exams during the closure.
Students were sent home from the secondary school on Tuesday morning after parents were informed of the closure by text.
School head David Maxwell said Beckfoot Oakbank had been closed in the interests of the health and safety of students and staff “following advice from the gas board”.
He said on Tuesday: “We have been in contact with all relevant utilities and engineers are currently on site to rectify the issue.
“It is anticipated that school will be open tomorrow once clearance has been provided by the gas engineers.
“Parents and staff will be notified via text and the website as to whether the school will be open tomorrow.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this issue but, as always, the safety of the school community is paramount.”
