SILSDEN Whitestar, who were thrown out of the Northern Plant Hire Trophy for fielding an ineligible player after their 6-2 third-round victory over Broomhill, have another chance for some Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League silverware.

The Cobbydalers beat Trawden Celtic 3-1 in a Premier Division Cup semi-final, and will now face Pendle Renegades at Sutton next Wednesday (May 10, 6.30pm).

Man of the match Gavin Shearer, Sam Stanfield and Stuart Parkin were on target for Whitestar, who are battling for second place in the top flight behind champions Settle United.

Whitestar went back into the runners-up berth with a 5-0 victory at bottom-of-the-table Earby Town last midweek, courtesy of goals from Andy Kay, Josh McNulty, man of the match Mateusz Tomas, Parkin and substitute Stanfield, all of which came in the first half.

Broomhill were beaten 1-0 by Chatburn in the Division One Cup final at Carleton and then lost their final league game 5-0 at home to Manningham Allstars.

But they still have the chance to win silverware after being reinstated in the Northern Plant Hire Trophy following Silsden Whitestar's breach of the rules. The Marley side play Rolls in the quarter-final on Saturday.

In Division Three, Silsden Whitestar Reserves, whose gong winner was Tom Appleby, were defeated 3-0 in their top-two clash at leaders Ilkley.

However, both will still be promoted, while Jamie Abbott couldn't inspire Cowling to anything better than a 7-1 home defeat to Salts Reserves, who could finish third.
