BRADFORD City bosses hope excitement surrounding the club’s upcoming quest for play-off glory will provide an “extra boost” to allow the #TeamTwenty initiative to reach its target.

So far, more than 18,500 tickets have been snapped up by fans, with 176 tickets being donated by generous fans and businesses for less well-off Bantams fans.

Friends of Bradford City has also set up a donation page to allow fans to make small contributions towards buying season tickets for less fortunate members of society.

The money will be put towards buying tickets for charities and other groups in the city to allow people they support to attend games.

Tickets have been donated by fans of other clubs, as well as Bantams overseas, to allow more people to attend games.

James Mason, chief operating officer at Bradford City, is hoping that the club’s push for promotion in the play-offs will encourage more fans to buy tickets and reach the target of 20,000 season tickets.

Bradford face Fleetwood Town on Thursday at Valley Parade in the play-off first leg, before travelling to the seaside Lancashire town on Sunday for the second leg. If City win on aggregate, they will face either Millwall or Scunthorpe United in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, May 20, for a place in the Championship next season.

Mr Mason said: “By being in the play-offs we hope that will give an extra boost to reach the target.

“While the price has now gone up, it would still be one of the cheapest in the Championship if we do go up, and would be very competitive in League One.

“If results on Thursday and Sunday go our way we will have a real chance at Wembley, and that might encourage casual fans or people who follow the club to get a ticket.”

Prices for adult tickets are now £299, £159 for 11 to 15 year olds, and £15 for under 11s, but the price for donating tickets or for businesses to purchase a ticket is still frozen at the original prices.

Mr Mason did warn fans that once the 20,000 mark is reached, there will be no more tickets sold, so encouraged fans to join #TeamTwenty before it’s too late. At friendsofbradfordcity.co.uk, supporters can donate any amount from £5 to £149 to go towards buying adult and junior tickets for fans who are less fortunate.
