A CULLINGWORTH couple are warning people to be on their guard after losing their cat to a burglar.
Jane Margerison, who lives in the village with her partner Mike Palmer, said the three-and-a-half-year-old Siamese tabby cross named Dora went missing on April 1 and is offering a reward for her safe return.
They thought she had wandered off or been injured but even after tireless searching and placing appeals on social media there was no sign of her.
Ms Margerison said: "It was only when burglars tried to steal her sister three weeks later that we realised Dora must have been stolen.
"The burglars had kicked the cat flap out which is in a wall and tried to coax her out but they failed.
"The police were called and said they were treating the two cases as linked and that Dora will have been stolen.
"We are only hoping that someone has been given Dora and are looking after her and that they see this and return her to us.
"Her sister, Kiki, has cried ever since. I am offering a £200 reward so whoever has her now and loves her will be able to buy their own.
"The cats are not pedigrees and have both been neutered so they are not worth a lot in money but Dora means so much to all of us.
"Please, if you have our little Dora or one of your friends has seen her, please take her to your local vet and ask them to scan her microchip so that we can bring her home."
