A TEENAGER disturbed two burglars as they searched a house for keys to the householder's performance car.

The 18-year-old was woken at around 5.30am today to find the intruders, both of whom were wearing balaclavas, inside the house in Dalton Lane, Keighley.

One is thought to have been holding a metal bar.

Another teenager, 17, was also in the house asleep at the time while the householder was away at work.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed the break-in stating there had been forced entry through the front door.

It is understood the suspects made off when confronted and ran to a waiting Audi which sped off down Dalton Lane.

The householder later discovered an old tablet was missing.

He asked not to be named, but added: "It's the third such break-in in this area in the past few weeks and we are convinced they were after the car.

"There have been lots of cars targeted around this area and in Riddlesden in the past three months. It's a pity that you feel you can't have a nice car because someone will try and take it off you."

Anyone with information about the burglary or who may have seen the suspects' car is asked to contact CID on 101 with crime reference number 131 701 78515.
