AN APPEAL has been lodged against Bradford Council's rejection of plans for a three-house development in Keighley.

The proposal was to build detached properties at The Croft and make improvements to an access drive.

But planners refused permission, saying the scheme's close proximity to a boiler manufacturing plant would create a noise nuisance for residents.

The company, Byworth Boilers, itself objected to the application.

A council spokesman said: "The dwellings would be located adjacent to and facing onto the business which generates significant noise from fabrication, pressure testing of boilers, servicing, loading and unloading and general activities.

"The proposed residential use is considered incompatible and the site would not provide an appropriate, quality setting for a housing development or offer a reasonable standard of amenity for prospective occupants."

The appeal is being dealt with on the basis of written representations.

An appeal is also under way after the council dismissed a bid to change the use of an agricultural building and land at Hayhills Lane, Silsden, to residential.

That is also being decided through written representations. Search for 16/09213/PAR.
