FROM egg hunts and community parties to various parades, there is plenty going on this Easter weekend to keep the whole family entertained.

Various attractions across the district are hosting Easter-themed events, and there are also other unrelated events going on in the city too.

On Good Friday, an Easter egg hunt is taking place at the Nell Bank Centre in Ilkley from 10am to 2pm, with entry costing £2, and prizes being awarded to the best foragers.

Also starting tomorrow is a weekend of Easter events at East Riddlesden Hall in Keighley.

Easter egg hunts will be taking place all weekend, costing £2 per child, and there will also be free events such as the wassailing of the apple trees - singing to and hanging good luck messages on the trees in the orchard in the hope of a good harvest.

Also on Friday at Springfield Community Centre in Idlethorp Way, Thorpe Edge, there will be arts, crafts, and games sessions for local children. The session for five to 13 year olds takes place from 4.30pm to 6.30pm and also features an egg hunt, and for 11 to 19 year olds the session runs from 7pm to 9pm.

In Cleckheaton, members of the local churches will be re-enacting the Good Friday story around the town, starting in St. Peg Lane and culminating outside the Town Hall at midday.

On Saturday, the Easter bunny will be visiting Northcliffe Woods in Shipley for a picnic from 12pm to 3pm taking place near the miniature railway.

There will also be an Easter bonnet parade, face painting, and cakes and treats for sale, with proceeds going towards Friends of Northcliffe Park’s conservation and development work.

From Saturday to Monday, Shipley Glen Cable Tramway is holding a rabbit search up and down the line, with a competition to spot the most rabbits. There will also be a treasure hunt from the bottom station to Bracken Hall Countryside Centre.

The events will take place between 12pm and 4.30pm each day.

On Easter Sunday, a free family party is taking place at Salthorn Working Men’s Club in Armitage Road, Oakenshaw from 2pm to 4pm. At the event there will be an Easter bonnet and basket parade, Easter egg hunt, and colouring competition.

Also on Sunday there will be an ‘Arty Party’ at Cineworld in the Leisure Exchange from 12pm onwards.

It involves Easter-themed workshops at 12pm and 2pm,using a wide range of materials including sand art and more traditional arts and crafts, which are free to take part in.

At Springfield Community Centre, there will be a boys only session for boys aged 11 and over, to cook a meal together and then have a peer support session about their personal issues. For all events at the centre, contact Helena Rhodes on 07954 299682.

On Easter Monday, Harold Park in Low Moor will be hosting its annual Easter celebration from 11am to 1pm.

Friends of Harold Park have organised an egg hunt, and there will also be stalls, a raffle and an Easter bonnet competition, with judging taking place at midday. The free event is taking place near to the bowling green.

There is also an Easter party taking place at the Dominica Association in Manningham from 2pm to 7pm, with a bonnet parade and various other activities throughout the day.

Elsewhere in the city, on Saturday, Creative Streets Bradford comes to a close with a puppet parade organised by Cecil Green Arts through the city centre from 2pm to 4pm. This will be followed by last ever Wild Woods in the old Marks & Spencer building in Darley Street, where there will be live music and performers, exhibitions, and various other attractions from 4pm.

The annual Vaisakhi parade is also taking place on Sunday, with thousands of members of Bradford’s Sikh population filling the streets with colour, visiting each Gurdwara in the city on the procession, which celebrates the start of the Sikh New Year.

Also taking place this weekend is the Bradford City fire memorial tournament at Marley Stadium, Keighley, which will features junior teams from the Bantams, local football clubs, Lincoln City, and a German side.

The 31st instalment of the tournament features under 12s and 14s teams.
