WEST Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) has teamed up with The Co-operative Bank as part of a safety advice scheme.

The Primary Authority Scheme (PAS) partnership, sees the Co-op Bank become the fourth banking group to join the scheme.

The tie-up will see WYFRS experts provide the bank with assured fire safety advice.

The PAS aims to drive a national consistency in fire safety between the fire service and the business world and enables fire and rescue services across England and Wales to work in accordance with each other.

Balvinder Singh Bains, WYFRS primary authority scheme manager, said: “The Co-operative Bank is a well-known and highly respected high street bank and I’m absolutely delighted to bring them on board.

“Deputy chief fire officer Dave Walton accompanied me to their headquarters in Manchester and we even took a West Yorkshire fire engine across the border.

“All of this demonstrates our commitment to our business partners and to fire safety.

“I’m pleased to see that the Co-op Bank recognises the value we can bring to them by providing assured advice and support.”
