FIVE men from Bradford will complete a 100-mile charity walk today when they stand on the centre spot at Valley Parade.

Craig Dignam - along with his brother Paul Dignam and nephews Paul Dignam, Bobby Prince and Danny O’Connor - started the walk at the Bescot Stadium in Walsall in the West Midlands on Thursday. They were due to arrive at Valley Parade ahead of Bradford City’s fixture against Walsall today.

They are doing the walk in memory of their father, Terry Dignam, and grandmother Hazel Cresswell, who both died from cancer. They have been fundraising for the Bradford Burns Unit, Cancer Research UK, and St John’s Hospice in Lancaster.

Crag Dignam, 51, a soldier, said: “We do charity walks every year in memory of our father, but this is the longest walk we have ever done.

“We chose this date and game because our father’s birthday was April 4, and this is the closest Bradford City home game to that date.

“We just want to thank Bradford City and Walsall for their support, especially letting us start and finish on the centre spots.”
