WITH the Tour de Yorkshire less than a month away, one Bradford hotel is already getting into the Tour spirit to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.
Throughout April, the Campanile Hotel in Euroway Business Park is challenging its staff and guests to collectively ride 490 kilometres, the same distance as the actual three-day race.
An exercise bike has been set up in the hotel reception, and people are being encouraged to ride a distance of their choice in return for a donation to the Alzheimer's Society, the race's official charity partner.
This year's Tour takes place from Friday, April 28, to Sunday 30, with the final stage starting in City Park before the riders head out around the district on their way to the race finish in Sheffield.
Noreen Gregory, general manager at the Campanile Hotel, said: “My deputy Simon Rowley attended the race’s launch event and returned inspired.
“We’re asking staff and the public to hop on to our exercise bike and ride whatever distance they want to and record it on a clipboard.
“If we are to achieve our challenge then we’ll need to collectively cycle around ten miles per day, but we’re confident we can get over the finish line by the time the race is over."
