A DEMONSTRATION will be held in Bradford next month against Government cuts to benefits for young people.

The cuts, which come into force on Saturday, April 1, will see the withdrawal of all housing benefits for 18 to 21-year-olds.

Anyone between these ages who is unemployed and applies for Universal Credit will no longer be eligible for any help paying for their rent.

Critics of the move include the Centrepoint charity who claim 9,000 young people are at risk of homelessness.

The #HouseTheFuture demonstration will be held outside City Hall in Centenary Square on Saturday, April 8, from noon.

Speakers at the event from across the UK will include Bradford Council Leader, Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe; National Union of Students vice-president, Shelly Asquith and Yorkshire Regional Secretary of the Trade Unions Congress, Bill Adams.
