A BRADFORD MP today told the House of Commons a local secondary school was facing budget cuts equivalent to 24 teachers’ salaries.
"During their visit I was asked about the more than £900,000 due to be cut from the school’s budget by 2019.
“Research suggests that that equates to £612 per pupil, or the salaries of 24 teachers.
"That is at a school working hard to come out of special measures.”
David Lidington MP, leader of the House of Commons, said the new funding formula was subject to a consultation, but said it was hard to defend the current system, which gave schools “startlingly different sums of money per pupil simply because of their geography”.
