What community wouldn’t be up in arms at the prospect of a ‘waste-to-energy’ incinerator on their doorstep?
So it’s no surprise 600 people staged a protest on Saturday against plans for such a plant on the old gas storage site at Marley, Keighley.
Such facilities are necessary - but it shouldn’t be beyond the wit of man to find ways of siting them away from areas of high population.
And why is job creation now routinely rolled out as justification for unpopular developments?
Some things are actually more important.
